Miss Tessa mounted her own little Lagerfeld tribute, worked both gold and silver sparkle on Hollywood Prom Night, AND managed to switch up her look dramatically in the space of a few hours. It may not have been her night but she sure made the most of it.
Maybe we’re feeling kind in the wake of Lagerfeld’s passing, but despite our long dislike of tiered dresses, this is mostly working for us. The gold embellishment is executed in a slightly unusual way, giving the dress a bit more of a textural quality. We loathe the ruffles at the bottom, though. And we can’t totally support a dress that looks like it seriously hobbles her. But the style combined with the unusually soft styling makes it work better than it should.
On the one hand, this one looks like she can freely move in it. On the other hand, it looks like half a dress. “Unresolved” doesn’t begin to cover this design. We like the idea of a sheer dress over a romper, believe it or not, but there’s a bit too much sparkle for such a flimsy design to handle. It comes off looking sloppy when it’s not on a runway.
