Miss Emily has her big night and she sported a big dress to go with it. Normally, we’d turn the entire spotlight over to her, but John’s looking pretty foine here so he gets to tag along.
We’ll get to Her Royal Poofiness in a second. John’s sporting the hottest trend sweeping the male red carpets (this week) and he’s the first one to get it right, as far as we’re concerned. We are speaking, of course, of the dreaded Brown Suit. Here is proof that it can be worn in a stylish, fresh, and even colorful sort of way. Dudes who sport business-like dress shirts and ties with a brown suit are always going to wind up looking a little sleazy. It helps that this brown has a lot of red in it. The espresso browns, red-clay browns and chocolate browns are all easy to interpret and wear. The muddy, poop browns are always hard to pull off.
Anyway, LOVE his shirt and tie, although a knit tie seems a bit informal next to such an attention-seeking gown. And speaking of which …
Yes, it’s a lot. We’ve been saying for months that she needs to go romantic and whimsical in her poledance for this film, but that’s not quite how she sees it, evidently. This is definitely romantic, but of a more straightforward variety, with a fairly heavy bridal undertone. Whimsy, it would seem, is not part of the promo equation for her. Having said that, even though we’d never have rec’d going with this sort of Grande Dame style, we think it’s very pretty and dramatic. The view from the back is especially gorgeous. It’s a damn shame the fit in the bust is a bit snug, because it mars an otherwise perfectly executed look. Us being us, we can’t help thinking a colored sash at the waist would have done a great deal to provide just a little more interest and a little less of a wedding dress feel. The earrings are stunners.
