Just in case anyone forgot, and we wouldn’t blame you if you had, what with all the terrible examples of people flouting this simple and basic style rule at CinemaCon this year, this is what it looks like when both a woman AND a man are dressed more or less on point at the same time for a professional event in which they will be on stage and photographed:
The style brief here, in buzzwords and catchphrases, is: stylish, not tryhard, professional, not stuffy, casual, not sloppy, and above all else, photogenic, because that’s the whole point. His pants are too tight (they usually are) and his shoes don’t go. The neckbow and sash on her dress are terrible, as is the front skirt zipper. But they look kind of cute, kind of stylish, kind of coordinated. And that works not only for the venue, but also for themselves, because neither of them are the type to put too much thought or effort into such things, but they’re both aware that they have to fulfill certain expectations.
In other words, none of this is flawless, but that doesn’t mean it’s not on point and mostly well done.
