And now, a series of visual aids for anyone who wants to lead a discussion on gender expectations regarding modes of presentation:
While there are plenty of times we find the kind of massive disparity in effort and level of presentation on display here rage-inducing, we think it’s a bit more nuanced in this instance. Yes, James is underdressed, but we’d argue Sarah’s overdressed as well. That’s her choice and very much her style, but a setting like CinemaCon allows for some toning down. And if we’re being perfectly honest, it doesn’t always make a great setting for the kind of LEWK she’s sporting here. It’s a bit much, is what we’re saying. If you’re standing in solidarity with your fashion sisters promoting your fashion-based movie, going tits-to-the-wall with your fashion is perfectly on point, but standing between these two jamokes, she’d have been better off pairing the top half with a killer pair of jeans and heels rather than that rather silly skirt.
Now, with James, we have to put it right out there that our homosexual selves are very appreciative of the view and our Philly selves can’t help but love a well-deployed “jawn.” Having said that, this isn’t exactly Comic Con, mister. Put on a shirt with buttons. Failing that, put on a sports coat over that t-shirt.
