Kate Hudson in Emanuel Ungaro at the “Wish I Was Here” London Screening

Posted on September 19, 2014

We’re not strict about screenings, darlings.

This is a sentence we get to type in our jobs and have it make total sense. God, we’re lucky.

Anyway, screening style etiquette. They’re the Casual Fridays of red carpets and we totally understand and accept (encourage, even) the deployment of less grandiose getups and less of that insincere perfection that can characterize the more upscale red carpet events. But stars still have to make some sort of effort and come out looking stylish, of course. We still get pissed at the sight of t-shirts and sneakers at any planned photo op, but with screenings and photocalls, we’re more than okay with keeping it real, as the kids say (in 1998).

So believe us when we say we would probably be okay with this outfit in theory…

But in reality, it just looks like she’s wearing half an outfit. It doesn’t help that: the fit on the pants is terrible; they’re too long; the shoes, from what we can see, are a choice that make angels cry; the top and the pants don’t really go together; the visible bra thing looks totally ’90s and that waistband doesn’t take well to having a top tucked into it. Girl, this needed a jacket. And a seamstress. And an entirely different pair of shoes. And some blotting pa- look, just turn around, get back in your limo, and start over again. You can scream into your phone at the people who did this to you on the way.
