Look at these basic hipsters.

He is entirely too boy-twee for words. He should be living under a mushroom somewhere.

She’s surprisingly sophisticated when she wants to be. And she clearly wants to be for this poledance. We love the dress, but we’d like it better without that weird bust panel. Just go with the sweetheart neckline and call it a day, we say. Love the hair, makeup and jewelry. Do not love the manicure. She needs a belt.

Hunh. That sounded more critical than we meant it to. She looks good. We’re probably just feeling residual irritation from looking at his preciousness. It’s not that we hate the look or that it doesn’t suit him, but it’s so … on point that it comes off like a cliche. And he’s wearing tweed in July. That’s bound to make us cranky.

Her shoes. So SHINY. Do not like. Otherwise, good. Him? Effh.

    • Latin Buddy

Wow. He’s like budget 90s Leo DiCaprio.

      • TM

He does have a Leo as Romeo vibe, but he’s such a phenomenal actor. He can pull the troubled angry young (often psychotic) man card better than Leo ever could.

        • Anne

Yes, he was wonderful on In Treatment.

        oh – but his dimples!

    • semirose

Cute but I feel like her nail artist doesn’t know how to achieve Essie Marshmallow’s full potential.

ALSO did anyone else see her on The Daily Show last night? That entire interview was the best. She and Jon Stewart play off eachother so well. “It’s like your interviewing me but not me, my soul” “ummmm yes please”

      • JasmineAM

Her nail polish is awful. Looks like they just put one super messy, streaky coat of the white color. I’m sure she paid a shit load to get that done too.

      • http://armchairauthor.wordpress.com/ LesYeuxHiboux

Let’s be real for a sec, Essie Marshmallow is one tricky polish. Almost as bad as Muchi Muchi.

      • Judy_S

I clicked on this solely on the basis of that interview. She was delightful. I’m glad to see her looking so pretty here.

      • LJCdoc

I am too old to have the faintest clue who she is, but I freakin love her on the basis of that interview alone.

      • http://redheadedwolf.wordpress.com/ Laura Renee

I’d never seen her before in my life, but all I could think, watching that interview, is that she defines “droll.”

    • hughman

I love her. And if anyone can lead DeHaan to Mordor, I bet she could.

    • MilaXX

He looks like a Keebler elf. She looks pretty darn good. Give her a skinny belt and I’ll ignore the manicure.

    • jilly_d

I just want to take her to a dive bar and trash talk everyone we know while drinking Coors Light dollar draws and smoking a lot of cigarettes.

      • fursa_saida

You seem like my kind of human.

        • jilly_d

Call me, we’ll play some pool. Disclaimer: At the dive bar, only Garth Brooks and Pam Tillis are allowed on the jukebox. Special consideration will be given to Brooks & Dunn and/or Trisha Yearwood requests.

    • kbshee

She looks wrinkly. Her dress, that is.

    • http://weirdinedgewise.blogspot.com ONEWEIRDWORD

I like them both; he’s making an effort, clean, smiling, and I love her dress. That print is beautiful.

    • msdamselfly

He looks great. NIce to see something bohemian but well-groomed

    • Sherilyne Cox

The dress is lurvely…….looks better on AP than it does on the runway model. I don’t object to the neckline…..but I’d like to see the back.

    • marlie

I think she looks great! I really like this; I’m impressed! He… even if he’d unbuttoned the top button, this wouldn’t be as bad. It’s a little affected for me.

If this were a pairs division I’d give her: 8.5/10, and he’d get 5/10. Combined: 6.75. Aubrey, smack him for bringing you down.

    • Jacqueline Wessel

Aww, they look so young and fresh-faced and cute.

    • juniper

      that dress fabric is beautiful

    • LadyVimes

But the antique florals fit with the mushroom-dwelling!

(I love both of these, but the bodice needs fixing on hers)

    • JynxTheCat

Cuties! In two entirely different seasons and such but Cuties still

    • Sophie

The print of her dress made me think of Art Nouveau wallpaper. I like it.

    • FibonacciSequins

I’m really curious to see how Dane plays James Dean, because the physical resemblance just isn’t there. He looks like the twee offspring of Leo DiCaprio and David Bowie here.

Aubrey looks great here. The only thing that bugs me is her manicure.

    • teensmom99

Love huh and even love the necktie on huh.

    • spirit52

His outfit confuses me, is it winter, already? And like the guys said, the dress would be great without the weird panels…make it a sweetheart neckline.

    • kimmeister

      Her lipstick is awfully frosted.

    • MartyBellerMask

He’s not the least bit appealing to me, but boy is Aubrey a doll. :)

    • boweryboy

I like the bottom half of his outfit, but not the top. The tweed blazer is a bridge too far.

    • Gatto Nero

It’s one of those silly racerfront bodices, and though it’s not terrible on her, the dress would be better without it.
He’s so damn cute, though, in a pinch-his-cheeks, give-him-a-hot-meal kind of way.

    • smh4748

Does Aubrey-on-the-poster look exactly like a younger Allison Janey? I’m not crazy, am I?

      • hyperionic

Yeah you’re crazy. But don’t worry crazy people can live a full and fulfilling life these days.

        • Shawn EH

Allison Janey does that expression for some of her more “touched” sort of characters, I can see it.

    • Steve Ek

As scrawny as he is, that jacket is giving him moobs. God only knows what it would look like on a man of normal size.

    • Man Dala

I think she looks fantastic, she has gown so much in all respects.

    • nannypoo

Pretty fabric and I like the shape of the dress, but that bib has got to go.

      • Fitzperry

Agreed. Looks like it belongs in a dentist’s chair.

      • altermyego

It looks like a bib made out of Kleenex. Throw it away like used tissue please.

    • appliquer

Makeup is rather harsh for the softness of the dress – and the shoes, no.

    • http://smalltownbigwardrobe.com/ Catherine

Props to her. She’s almost making a dress with a dickie work.

      • Shawn EH

I’m thinking girl that is her dress.

    • FuhUgh

Oh, come on – you’ve been making us look at the Taylor Swift twee gym tour for weeks. This kid is cute. Unbutton one top button and we’re good. And Aubrey looks great – close to a personal best.

    • Jacob Bowen

Apparently the “trend” currently is to wear winter fabrics. Ugh.

    • Carolina E.

Even if it’s tweed, at least he has a pretty well tailored suit, a pretty complicated assignment for almost every man in Hollywood. Anyway, I love him, even if is a portable oven. And her, for me, looks meh, too shiny shoes.

    • Jimmack

Hmm. I needed to take another look. He looks just like the boy that came in for a job interview today (didn’t get the job). I think her dress is pretty but she has serious grandma hairdo.

    • NinjaCate

“Boy twee” is definitely a thing that I need to start saying.

    • ktr33

I’ve never seen him before, but am I wrong: he looks like a tiny baby Leonardo, doesn’t? pre-Gilbert Grape. Maybe This Boy’s Life?

      • Ali2044

        Tweeonardo Dicaprio

        • ktr33

          Double-like! brilliant!

        • JauntyJohn

          *slow clap*

Spot on: She’d be about perfect with a belt and with that stupid chest panel thingy removed. i really like the print on and shape of the dress. The shoes are hideous.

Who is she, again? No, wait: Who is HE?

      An Old

    • http://fibonaccisequins.storenvy.com/ Danielle

Good effort, but I can’t get behind her nail art.

    • Freynika

His suit really creeps me out. Those two patterns need a solid color tie to break it up. Maybe I’m not so good at hipster style, but he looks kinda psycho in it to me. Her dress is okay. I really don’t like what her lipstick is doing to the contours of her lower face. I think the makeup in the picture of herself behind her is actually much better. Also, her manicure is stupid. Don’t get me wrong, I love Aubrey Plaza and she makes Parks & Rec for me. Well, she and Reta.

    • Patrick Cleary

I think he looks great! Since male stars get over-praised for wearing basic suits that happen to fit correctly, I love that he’s doing something a bit different. More variety on the malestar red carpet, please!!!

    • Kikishua

She had to run out of the house before giving her manicure the second/third coat it needed. To be fair, white is tricky coat-wise.
