Aubrey Plaza and Chris Pratt at the “Life After Beth” Premiere

Posted on August 11, 2014

Daw. How cute is this? It’s like someone dumped a basket of puppies and kittens onto the red carpet.

You can tell how relieved he is not to be wearing a too-tight suit while flogging his own movie. At first we were going to take him to task for looking so bad, but he honestly isn’t wearing anything that a million other guys don’t wear on the RC when they’re working a casual look. It’s just that he’s so naturally rumpled and sloppy that if you don’t take extreme measures to groom and style him (which pay off IN SPADES when you do it right), he’s always going to look a bit of a mess. An adorable mess, to be sure, but still a mess.

She looks fabulous. The only weak point is the personality-free choice of footwear, but the dress looks fantastic on her, especially with the hem raised to above the knee. LOVE that ring she’s sporting. The hair’s a little Hillary Clinton, maybe? She could use a little zhuzhing or even updating on that front.

He’s so scruffy. I just want to take him home, bathe him, towel dry him, and… oh, pardon me… what was I saying?

  • Ray

    I want his pants.

    • ChaCha_70

I want IN his pants. Come on! You gave that one to me!

      • Ah if only he really could give us that one. Ahem. That man is adorable.

    • Man Dala

      I want his pants off.

  • Mothra

I think that dress makes her look like an old lady, with dyed hair.

    • Kitten Mittons

Yep. We can sit here and cluck at her together.

    • Sarah

So does that green eye shadow.

      • Thomas

Yeah, I think it’s the eye shadow, not the dress.

      • fursa_saida

The eyeshadow is killing me. I feel like the entire makeup situation needs to be dialed back a bit. That dress doesn’t need to be so serious.

      • Violentcello

Honestly, I’m not on board with anything she’s wearing (except the attitude. She looks like she’s having a blast.)

He’s cute and all, but he could have at least washed the bar stamp from last night off the back of his hand, right?

        • Sarah

Yeah I don’t mind the dress but coupled with her styling it is sort of a meh for me. As for bar stamps, I ALWAYS forget to wash them off. Maybe he just left the party and that explains his rumpled appearance?

        • Alana

          He needs a bar stamp?

      • Mothra

Pat Nixon. That is who she reminds me of.

  • Glam Dixie

It is August, I cannot get behind THAT dress in August, the shoes are hiddy and her hair looks pretty bad too. It’s all a no for me. He looks like he’s about to drop off some more charitable donations. Together though, adorableness.

  • LP

She looks great, but skinny super high-heeled Aubrey Plaza takes a little getting used to. It’s like when a couple of seasons ago they started doing her eye makeup super heavy on the show. It didn’t seem to fit her exactly. I liked the more everyday young woman look she had going before.

  • ChaCha_70

Just saw Guardians of the Galaxy this past weekend and now understand all the talk of his instant shot to super stardom. He’s everything!

  • I will go down with this ship!

  • marlie

The hair is a little “Hilary Clinton,” and the eye makeup is a little “1983.” But the dress is cute (but a little December-ish). He looks like a lovable oaf, but at least he’s a lovable oaf who shaved his neck.

  • SewingSiren

Everything is good . Except it’s August .

    • FibonacciSequins

I’ve given up on that criticism. I’m not even noticing long sleeves anymore.

      • stellavision

I can’t give up on it. I just can’t. I’m going to found SACS (the Seasonally Appropriate Clothing Society).

        • FibonacciSequins

          I will donate.

          • demidaemon

            Same here!

        • decormaven

Throw in a free coffee cup and I’m there.

        • Jacob Bowen

          I will also donate.

  • Thomas

Too much eye makeup and not crazy about the hair, but the dress is nice.

    • Constant Reader

      My thoughts exactly.

  • NinjaCate

This makes me sad because I like Anna Farris, but I kinda ship April and Burt Macklin…

    • Shawn EH

Aubrey’s just his work-wife. I bet Anna gets it! Hmmm, I suppose that makes French Stewart her work-husband? Nah.

      • Freynika

Gawd, I love French Stewart on that show. He and her mom dating was hilarous.

  • mommyca

I keep seeing this girl in so many pictures and I still don’t know who she is… I guess I’m not watching the right shows…

    • FibonacciSequins

Aubrey plays a character on Parks and Rec who works in the Pawnee Parks dept. office and is married to Chris Pratt’s character.

  • Sherrie

I love that he’s still sporting the bar stamp from last night. Maybe the outfit is from the same? Her – umm, I barely looked at her – she looks okay?

  • jen

I was binge watching Parks and Recreation this weekend. I love him so much. She looks awesome! Love the dress.

  • How does he look like such a giant in the second to last picture? What camera lens does this?

    • I think he’s lunging forward in the foreground…

    • kimmeister

It’s like he’s going to pick up a little Aubrey Plaza paper doll.

  • JR Labrador

She’s serving serious Allison Janney realness.

    • Betsy

      In miniature.

  • sutton

April and Andy forever! She has been looking great for this pole dance and as a fellow Delaware girl that makes me so happy

  • bookish

I have a bone to pick with Aubrey Plaza. She used to have straight across bangs, and photos of her with that cut were my inspiration for getting bangs a few summers ago. Now I’m in the process of growing them out, and it’s miserable. Hair in my eyes, constantly pushing them out of the way, tangles when the wind blows. Yuck.

  • evave2

Really, you like the dress on her? I think the length on the model is oodles better. The above the knee takes away the proportion, which I think is quite nice on the model. And since I don’t think she is a six foot model I betcha she asked for it shorter. But I don’t like it shorter. So we differ. Eh.

    • Guest

I like the length on the model as well, the problem might be that the model is likely a foot taller than Aubrey and that length on her would surely be stumpifying…

  • cmb123

her eye makeup is killing me. She looks like she just left the free trial counter at Filenes

  • Betsy

I love the dress, but it says Thanksgiving.

    • Wink

      Gobble, gobble.

  • tallgirl1204

I love that they are having fun on the RC. This is so “be me!” as compared to Ms. Michele’s “am I pretty?”

  • MarissaLG

She looks fantastic but I don’t love the hair. She’s young, modern and fresh. I don’t think a throwback-style suits her. He’s so adorable it makes me want to puke.

  • Sarah Jacobs

The dress looks like something my 85 year old mother would wear to a bar-mitzvah.

  • Janet B

Funny, how they both dressed for Autumn.

Adorable. Every time I see him, whether he looks well put together or not, I say adorable.

  • FibonacciSequins

Scruffiness suits him. He just needs to brush his hair. That purple backdrop is doing horrible things to his complexion, but that’s not his fault.

I love Aubrey’s look except those heels are so high she looks like she went en pointe. And they’re not worth the pain.

So nice of him to show up on the red carpet with her for her movie. April and Andy are real-life friends!

    • Gatto Nero

Agree about Pratt’s scruffiness. It’s his natural state, so it looks charming, not pretentious or unkempt. I don’t even mind the messy hair.
Re: her shoes, they’re boring and too big, and in the last shot it looks as though she’s about to fall out of them. Love the dress on her, though, and she (or someone) was smart to shorten it.

  • BlairBear

I think if he had worn a better shirt it would have turned out allright

  • Tracy_Flick

The dress is cute, if not exactly seasonal, but that is some serious slumber party hair and makeup.

  • Freynika

I like the collar on the model better, as well as the length. All that pattern needs some kind of a break. TLo hit it right on the head with the Hillary hair – no better way to put it. Eye makeup and shoes are tragic. Our April Snakehole deserves better.

  • kimmeister

It’s long sleeved lace. I don’t think that’s particularly heavy for August.

  • TM

D’awwwwww Andy and April. Could never ever hate.

  • WinterSantiaga

I’m going to a wedding this weekend and I really want to wear that dress. The runway version though, I like the longer hemline. Hate the shoes! He is cute as always. I think I really prefer the slightly disheveled version of him, it seems to suit his (public, TV) personality better.

  • mom2ab

People it is August in Los Angeles- why is everyone dressed as though it was October? They just look sweaty and overdressed to me.

  • CB

As you mentioned, I am SO thrilled that she raised the hem. The mid-calf is such a hard length to pull off, but a lot of other stylists/young actresses have been trying to make it work (to no avail).

  • Anna

Well, this is better than anything from the Teen Choice Awards at least. But really, it’s all about that last picture, which is just too fucking cute.

  • frannyprof

If it were fall or winter, I’d love the dress. But it’s summer in LA. Hot hot hot.

  • decormaven

As other posters have noted, this dress should be saved for the late fall. It’s like the stores- everyone’s rushing the seasons on us. I’m not budging.

  • misstressofsylar

Andy and April = awesomesauce!! This made my Monday!

  • fursa_saida

I love her, and I wish this movie were rumored to be good. Alas.

I love the dress, but I think the styling is sort of taking it too seriously? It all seems very heavy to me, especially the eye makeup. He looks like he slept on someone’s couch last night, but I don’t really care, because of how happy he clearly is to show up for her at her movie premiere. Support! Positive relationships! Affection! What a concept!

  • Kerry McCombs

Way to trot out your sitcom co-star who currently is the lead in the biggest movie in America to YOUR movie premiere! She’s working all the angles!

  • Jacob Bowen

Keep the Chris Pratt coming…could look at him all day.

  • Pablo

I’m super biased when it comes to these two because I love them so much but I think they both look great. The hair on Aubrey is not great but I can’t hate on it.

  • enchanted216

What a hiddy fall dress. And he looks drunk. js

  • KT

They look adorable together, horrible separately. Maybe not horrible, but not very good. He looks drunk and sweaty, she looks drunk and like she got into her grandmother’s closet. The hair and makeup are TRAGIC.

  • merciblahblah

I don’t care much what either of them are wearing – they’re both just so frigging ADORABLE in that last photo I’m going to hang it over my mantle.

  • MilaXX

I like everything from the neck down. That hair and makeup is a bit Pat Nixon, especially that helmet hair. The only thing saving this is the fact that they are clearly friends.

  • Julie Chase

Love the ring and their mutual adoration-hate the heavy material and that crazy eye makeup.

  • Imasewsure

Adorable and a nice change from the stiff RCs we have to look at day after day…. but an “of course” quibble to the fall wardrobes again since it’s about 90 degrees in LA…. I guess they go from AC limo to AC theater but it’s still so odd

  • mmebam

I disagree on the shoes. All of my attention is on the dress, which is as it should be. Anything other than a nondescript pump or sandal would be fighting.

    • alyce1213

I like her shoes very much — they’re not putty or “nude,” they’re a beautiful, rich camel color. I agree that anything more would detract from the dress. (But I do think it all should be worn in November.)

      • mmebam

        Oh, yes, definitely not seasonal.

  • kmk05

They are adorable, but it’s too much makeup for August and her hair is not up to par (and definitely not beachy/August enough). He is terrible, from top to bottom, and as much as I love him, there’s no way to forgive him.

  • Slanted & Enchanted

I was at this premiere! The movie was fine (I loooooove zombie movies, especially comedies, but this was not even a tiny bit scary and that disappointed me), but the real star of the show (and the reason my friend bought us tickets in the first place) was FATHER JOHN MISTY! Acoustic concert after the movie, and it was amazing. Highly recommend to any BKs who like folksy indie rock – check out his music video for “Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings” to see Aubrey Plaza acting like a crazy girl, haha.

As for the outfit, I like hers. It’s not particularly summery, but it really doesn’t get that hot in LA, especially since it cools off considerably at night. I wore a skirt and jacket with booties and was quite comfortable. Just sayin’.

  • Anique Ashraf

I missed messy!Pratt. Also that last picture is SO FRIKKIN ADORABLE.

  • Wink

Is the stamp on his hand for this event or is it left over from last night?

  • formerlyAnon

I like the shape of her dress, but I hate that fabric. It makes me smell mothballs.

He might have shaved. He might have fully removed the hand stamp from whatever event/club he was at the night before, he might have . . . oh, forget it. For his fan base, none of that matters at all, does it?

  • siriuslover

” if you don’t take extreme measures to groom and style him (which pay off IN SPADES when you do it right), he’s always going to look a bit of a mess….”awww, he’s Pig Pen (in a good way)!

  • demidaemon

Love her look. he should have stepped it up a little. Both are still adorable, though.

  • irielle

Her dress read autumn to me — like something that would be appropriate in November instead of a Teen Choice Awards in August.

  • Love him – he makes me a little weak in the knees. I love cute goofballs.

  • KendraMR

Cute dress–for autumn, and I covet her ring. He’s adorable even with those muddy boots.

    • It’s almost autumn – we might get a brief period of seasonal overlap before the spring collections come out.
Sidenote: I noticed some really fab outfits on people going to the fall couture shows when I was looking at the NYTimes, so I hope/wish we’ll get some commentary on those if TLo can get a-hold of the rights to any of those pics.

  • I love Aubrey’s look, and I do love the shoes. They melt nicely with her tanned legs. As for Chris….gah! That hug! LOVE him so much.

  • imustacheyouaquestion

shhh just let them hug :))

  • Coco Chanel

    That hair…..

  • Man Dala

Oh April and Andy, I love thy.

  • StrandedFashionista

I’ve always thought Aubrey was unconventionally attractive (not to mention talented) so I say that she can and should go for the jewel-toned floral when she has the chance. Also, props for coordinating with the background of the photo op.

  • heartbot

They’re so adorable, I honestly don’t care what they’re wearing. I love them.

  • Amel

The dress looks good on her I must admit – but it also looks like the wallpaper I’d expect to see if I went to a $10 psychic reading

  • mickiemonkey

They are perfectly dressed for…Thanksgiving. Leather jacket, corduroy, dark floral brocade with a high neck and long sleeves? It’s 95″ for crying out loud.

  • Melanie

her HAIR and MAKEUP. ughhhh & she’s so cute!
