Posted on March 13, 2014

Let’s all Tilda. It’s a verb. Or it should be.

We suspect this doesn’t photograph well. Not that it looks bad, exactly. But navy and black is a combo that always looks better in person than it does in pictures. It’s typical Tilda. Haider Ackerman always has been her jam. We dig it, but that top looks like something of an afterthought. It’s not bad, exactly, but it does nothing for the outfit. That coat’s so gorgeous we kinda want it for ourselves. And her hair looks fantastic.

And with that, we complete our Tilda-ing for the day.

The rise on those pants is insane, and she needs some powder for her shine, but you cannot deny the fierce.

    • Thistle5

Yes, love the look, but all I could think was she needs some powder.

  • PastryGoddess

Just looked up this movie and it turns out that Tilda is a vampire. Because of course she is.

She can keep the coat and get rid of everything else

    • Nelliebelle1197

She just looks more and more like Bowie! She is like his wild, forgotten love child, left behind to be brought up by fairies.

      • Aurumgirl

Except they’re almost the same age.

      • PastryGoddess

        Unseelie faires at that.

  • eandh99

Man, she is poledancing fiercely all by herself for this movie, isn’t she? The Hiddles is off filming in Toronto, but he can’t do ANY of the premieres? Mia Wasikowska? (I’ve probably spelled that wrong). She actually pulled Anton Yelchin out of the crowd at one and made him sit on stage with her. It’s a long, lonesome road promoting this film – and it’s a good movie.

    • Eclectic Mayhem

You’re clearly a savant at spelling Wasikowska because you’re spot on! She’s in Crimson Peak WITH Tom Hiddleston and I think filming was rather delayed by his stint as Coriolanus in the West End so no time off for OLLA appearances by the looks of things. Shame Ms Swinton is having to go it alone because the world could really use more photos of TH and TS standing together looking fabulous.

      • eandh99

I knew Mia was in Crimson Peak with Tom, but I figured, surely one of them could get a few days off here or there?

      • formerlyAnon

That photos thing – oh yeah.

      • Anna

The world is a much better place whenever TH and TS stand together looking fabulous.

    • scoobynacks

Aw nuts. I was hoping for Hiddleston photos. Much sadness.

  • Sarah

When is she gonna do a T-Rex biopic? (This is my idea of totally awesome)

    • fursa_saida

I want a Bowie biopic out of her, but would take a T-Rex one as a second choice. Just play a glam rocker, IS THAT SO MUCH TO ASK.

      • Sarah

Yes, I meant a T-Rex biopic IN WHICH she plays Bowie, but sure – glam rocker of any kind would work.

        • fursa_saida

Oh! As a supporting character, then? I’d prefer a Bowie-centric film because I firmly believe all things should be Bowie-centric, but as long as she plays him I’m happy.

          • Sarah

Cuz Marc Bolan and D.Bowie were super tight pals, yep. ITA Bowiecentrism. Everybody should have to listen to that stuff for their personal edification.

          • fursa_saida

Indeed. I am working on two Bowie mixes for the express purpose of edifying one of my friends as I type this!

  • Alyssa

I love that coat. The pants are strange…they look baggy…but at least they’re not consuming her feet.

  • kimmeister

Wow, that’s a lot of buttons to leave unbuttoned and not wear anything underneath.

  • marlie

LOVE it. That weave/print is gorgeous. And Tilda’s hair and makeup look great.

  • Shawn EH

Museum director at an art fair?

  • hughman

I wish Tilda and Bowie had hooked up and had little Space Blobbities.

    • Karen Belgrad

Sometimes I think Tilda came to this world, fully grown (like Mearth), parented by Ziggy Stardust.

      • Sarah

Like Athena springing fully formed from the head of Zeus! Totally.

    • mjude

      thank you!

    • Lucía Gavello

I do too, Imagine if Tilda, Bowie and Iman could produce some kind of being… that creature would rule us all.

      • fursa_saida

I think we need Grace Jones and Annie Lennox in the mix too.

        • PastryGoddess

Pretty sure that being would end up ruling the universe

          • fursa_saida

            WORKS FOR ME

  • HomeOfficeGirl

Ok, I know she’s pretty untouchable around here…but the sleeves on the coat? They are so long… it looks silly, or sloppy.

    • littlemac8

Yes! Here’s what I don’t understand: frequently her sleeves and/or pants are too long. But how does that happen when she is twelve feet tall?

    • littlemac8

Yes! Here’s what I don’t understand: frequently her sleeves and/or pants are too long. But how does that happen when she is twelve feet tall?

  • MilaXX

She just looks so cool. Love the entire look.

  • Gatto Nero

    The sleeves are ridiculously long.
    I love it.

  • Gatto Nero

I’m wondering if this is from the HA menswear collection, like that fabulous black-and-white coat she wore a while back.
    That would explain the fit.

    • littlemac8

You know I’ve wondered that too. My comment was frequently her sleeves and/or her pants are too long. But she’s sooo tall, I can’t figure out in what universe that could happen. Maybe you’re onto something.

  • mjude

    bowing…I must now Tilda!

  • AEditor

I will Tilda with you anytime.

    • makeityourself

      Today I Tilda.
      Yesterday I Tildaed.
      I have Tildaed.

  • 3boysful

I think I might like the coat on its own, but paired with the matching pants, it reminds me of the costume one of Batman’s arch-nemeses would wear. Something about the optic checks with the lapels. Certainly Tilda is the only mortal who could pull this off.

    • SugarSnap108

Exactly. I think the coat is pretty fabulous, but paired with the pants it gets costume-y (or villain-y). Plus, the fit on the pants is insane. Still, there’s the Tilda, which makes everything better.

  • tallgirl1204

    this I love love love.

  • formerlyAnon

I want the coat. I don’t think I’d look good – let alone like her – in it, but I still like it a lot.

  • somebody blonde

Yeah, the top is definitely a throwaway. It would’ve been nice to have a deep forest green or a burgundy or a dark purple there instead.

  • kat89

It looks like half the outfits she’s worn in the past year, only in a different fabric. I think she’s in a style rut. Otherwise, it’s just ok.

  • Lisa M. (ReVoir) Kramp

I have the ‘IWANTS’ for that coat in the best of all possible ways.

  • KT

KILLER. Not loving the flimsy black top she paired it with, especially because it’s clashing with the black in the suit, but whatever she looks fabulous.

  • Jennelle

I love how she wears high end couture with as much ease as if she is wearing a bathrobe..

  • traceyishere

And you can see her feet!

  • ashtangajunkie

    “Let’s all Tilda.”

It sounds like a dance. But only for the fabulous.

  • decormaven

That’s a fantastic jacket. She emanates the fierce.

  • YoungSally

I love the way she looks in Ackerman clothes, but when I see them on the rack, they seem too heavy and stiff. The challenge is to give them the heavy/stiff look without the weight or the stiffness.

    • PastryGoddess

I think it helps to be eleventy-seven feet tall so that the clothes hang properly. Mere mortals of average height cannot pull of HA properly

  • amanda siegelson

this is crying out for a crisp white shirt underneath.

  • IamstillAnonymous

“That coat’s so gorgeous we kinda want it for ourselves.” It would probably fit you better.

  • lillyvonschtupp

    That’s more like it, Tilda!

  • dash1211

I would Tilda all day long if I could. She’s otherworldly.

  • Violina23

I love that she doesn’t ever look like she gives a F*** about anything or anyone. It’s her world and we’re just living in it.

  • ballerinawithagun

    Love HA especially on Tilda.

  • random_poster

Is Tom Hiddleston also on this promo tour? Because the world is a better place when Tom’s fantastic smile and appearance around.

  • e jerry powell

  • Sabin

I actually love how this looks, but are her pants twisted to the side? I can’t figure out the design there.

  • Terri Terri

I just don’t understand the Tilda fashion fascination. I’m almost afraid to say it, but it’s true.

    • I’m with you…a year ago was fresh…nothing has evolved!

  • bitchybitchybitchy

OK, now my world feels a bit more normal-Tilda in Haider Ackermann is refreshing after that Valentino fringe misfire.

  • quiltrx

That’s an awesome outfit! I definitely would have gone for another shirt (maybe a dark red or burnt orange? dunno)…but the coat and pants are awesome. And Tilda doesn’t care if we like it or not!

  • deech_sea

Tilda Swinton, Tom Hiddleston, Jim Jarumusch and vampires! I’m really looking forward to this movie.

  • I have a sneaky suspicion that this look is getting a tad stale?

  • Josefina Madariaga Suárez

I hope the fierceness is contagious, because I’m receiving a full blast right now.

  • Corsetmaker

It looks like something Bowie would wear, which is usually an indicator of success for Tilda 🙂

  • webslice33

her sense of style is awe inspiring

  • The Versatile Chef

I wish I could have seen this against a lighter background. I think a contrast would have helped get a real good look at this.

Step into the light, Ms. Tilda.

  • gefeylich

SWINTON. I think this could have been tailored a little better, but there’s no denying her overall fabulousness. The hair is an event.

  • MannahattaMamma

  • Michelle Gennari

She is outrageous and I love her so much! She has such amazing style!!!
