Trust Chappell Roan to take the ballet core trend literally. Also trust her to elevate it to drag levels. The “Good Luck, Babe!” singer has always had an exuberantly queer public style and she sauntered onto the Grammys red carpet delivering more of the same. We gave this look our approval in our Cosmo writeup, but in the light of day, we have some quibbles.
While the design clearly calls for some over-the-top styling, we kinda think that once you commit to the neon yellow Degas ballerina skirt, you can go a little easy on the accessorizing. We realize that minimalism isn’t her bag, but we’d love to see this dress with the head poof, gloves, or focus-pulling boots. Then again, if you got rid of all that, the drag beat wouldn’t make much sense. We guess what we’re saying is, we’d love to see this dress styled differently, but it’s styled perfectly for her preferences and persona.
