Exquisite is the word that comes to mind. While that’s a descriptor that could apply to The Gilded Age star Christine Baranski in any situation, we’re specifically talking about her Oscar de la Renta gown at the Emmys, which may just be one of our favorite red carpet gowns of all time.
As we said, “exquisite.” Just a stunning textile, expertly rendered. We saw the video of the making of the dress in the OdlR atelier (below) before we saw it on the red carpet and it took our collective breath away. We might have some issues with the accessorizing, but this is so amazingly well-suited to her and gorgeous on its own that she’d have to work damn hard to do anything to detract from it. But okay, to be accurate and honest about it: we winced at the shoes because they draw the eye down. A darker red like the one in the dress – and absolutely no bejeweled buckle – would have been a better choice. Similarly, we’re not loving the earrings, if for no other reason than the golds clashing. Even so! The lady looks FLAMAZING in this.
