Judging by the low number of wearers at the Emmys, it would seem that metallics are definitely not a red carpet trend at the moment. This strikes us a little odd for a couple of reasons. The first is that shimmering golds and silvers have such a long tradition in Hollywood glamour precisely because they deliver so much impact. The second reason is related to the first: going by the below looks, it’s actually hard to look bad in a sparkly, shiny gown on a red carpet. Shimmering ladies? Line up for judgment.

Absolutely gorgeous. Easily the best she’s ever looked on a red carpet. The hair and makeup are lovely. We might have liked a black lining better.

Flawless Studio 54 cosplay. Love the wavy hair and the dark lip and mani, which lend it that disco-era vibe. The jewelry is surprisingly elegant and delicate, which elevates the look. She looks fantastic.

As we said, metallics on red carpets are almost always a can’t miss proposition. She looks fantastic, but without being bitches about it, we’d note that it’s the dress doing all of the work. The styling is meh all around. And when it comes to letting the dress do all the work, there’s an absolute queen of that maneuver:
Jennifer Aniston in Oscar de la Renta

As we noted in the Cosmo writeup, she looks fantastic and she looks like it took her ten minutes to get to ready, which is how she likes it. One could argue that this is another in a long line of sparkly bath towel dresses, but the beading pattern gives it real weight and texture. It’s the best thing she’s worn in years.

Take us away, you fabulous outer space queen. This is stunning.
