We have mostly street style shots to show you and we’re recording our podcast right now, which means this one red carpet post of the day makes the perfect opportunity to toss to y’all and make you vote on it. There’s just a couple problems with that plan. First, Angela Bassett is hosting the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation ball, which makes her a goddess, a queen, and someone we’d have a hard time critiquing. The second problem is that she’s Angela Bassett, who looks stunning no matter what.
The unstated (until now) third problem here is that the gown is lovely. That shimmery blue-gray is a unique color that looks fantastic on her. Love that pleated skirt. But we’ll be the hardass fashion bitches who have to make the tough calls here if we have to. That bodice is extremely iffy, especially from the side. The design would work much better with a simple one-shoulder strap design that covers the bust completely, instead of this sling-like design with extra fabric puffing out and looking a little sloppy. Is that enough to dismiss it? Does the clutch not clash with it? Do you think it might be improved with a thin belt? Or maybe just skip all of those questions and answer the main one:
