We apologize for being a day or two late in getting the Costume Designer’s Guild Award nominations, but seeing as how we’re a couple of big time costume design queens (and also because we just wrote a series of posts picking our faves of the year), we couldn’t let this one go by without comment. We had to pick a category under which to post this, so it’s listed under “Movies” even though the nominations also cover television

It’s funny. We have picks for Glass Onion, Nope and Tár on our year-end list, but if we had to pick who should get an award for overall work, we keep coming back to Women Talking, which had some fine, highly subtle work that stuck in our minds for days after.

We really loved the darkly evocative costume design of House of the Dragon, but The Rings of Power had more jaw-dropping looks per episode than any show – ever.
