Good Lady Cate is into recycling. And really off-kilter frocks.

She wore this exact look, styled pretty much exactly the same way, at the Venice Film Festival in 2020. We weren’t super-crazy about it then (and neither were most of you, going by the voting). We can’t say we’ve changed our minds about the merits of this design, but we do think we have a greater appreciation for her love of more off-beat looks in the last few years. We’re curious if any of y’all have changed your minds on this one. One thing we can’t possibly criticize is the re-use of high-fashion pieces by stars at a time when sustainable fashion is such a buzz phrase among them. We’re not sure that Cate is thinking of the environment so much as she’s not wanting to put forth a sense of wastefulness or frivolousness. The Oscar train is barreling down on her and we wonder if she’s not going to mount a fully recycled Oscar campaign wardrobe.
