She’s a gal who loves herself some old-school va-va-voom, and since it suits Jessica Chastain so well, we can’t really claim we get bored by the consistency of her choices. This gown isn’t reinventing the wheel nor is it in some sort of original, fresh or head-turning color. As gowns go, it’s about as pure an example of Barbie fashion as you’re likely to see on a red carpet:
But that doesn’t mean we are without our quibbles. The skirt is gorgeous, but the bodice is a little over-worked. This is the second time we’re saying this today but we’d have liked this a lot more if it had conventional straps or it had been strapless, but these sliding-down straps look awkward and give the impression that her movements are being restricted. Also, girlfriend needed a big honkin’ pink pendant of some kind just to take it all the way to Barbie-land. Love the earrings, though.
