
Judging by the thumbnail, you would be forgiven for thinking that Good Lady Cate looks unassailably gorgeous here, at the Cannes premiere of Garance, and that we must be crazy to consider putting this gown up to a vote. Well, we must. You see, this gown horrifies in ways that are simply too terrible for us to consider for too long:






It’s a — we can barely type it — black-backed floral that dissolves into long strings of fringe. Around these parts, your manly hosts tend to hate both of those things. Even if we didn’t, we think the design is simply too weird to be anything but distracting. We don’t actually mind the print. The scale and the colors work well with the background. We might even, in a fit of uncharacteristic kind-heartedness, forgive the skirt fringe (not likely), but the fringed gloves give us the willies and photograph terribly. We realize we’ve pretty much stacked the deck by denouncing this dress like a preacher in a pulpit, but we trust to contrarian kittens will step up to defend this one. Let’s hear it:
