Meryl Streep is feeling herself — or rather, being the widely considered greatest actress of her generation, Meryl Streep is doing a very good job of conveying that she’s feeling herself. The star of The Devil Wears Prada 2 came to Colbert to work a little high fashion and a little cinema iconography.

Miss Lady is SERVING (which is a rarity) and she knows it. This is fun. As we said the other day, her ambivalence about fashion never made much sense to us, because you can put her in a standard (if oversized) leopard blouse and black pants and she’ll come out looking amazing. She doesn’t need trendiness or fussiness. She just needs good pieces with a little bit of flair to them that don’t ask much of her. And speaking of not asking much of her…

It’s pretty funny that she wore the infamous cerulean sweater from the first film. We hope this is a one-off thing and they don’t spend this tour “paying homage” to half the costumes from the first one. Meryl looks cute — even in a shitty sweater — and we love the shoes. We just don’t want any of the cast members to promote the film wearing this or we’ll be annoyed.
