One of the things we try to suss out with these Ology posts is the storyline. Kate Hudson’s campaign story was “I’m Hollywood royalty.” Jessie Buckley’s was “I’m a bit of a punk who’s trying to be good.” Wunmi Mosaku’s was “I’ve arrived,” and Ethan Hawke’s was “I’m a jester who isn’t taking this too seriously.” And for Sinners star Michael B. Jordan, the message sent by his awards season wardrobe couldn’t have been any clearer or more consistent: “I’m the professional.”

He certainly wasn’t above a little red carpet stunting, but even then, he kept it subtle and on-point, appearing twice on the premiere red carpet in two distinct looks as a tip of his hat to the twins he plays in the film.

He rarely follows trends, and when he does, such as when he fell victim to the satin madness sweeping the entertainment industry, the results are always a little disappointing because he’s so much better off sticking to his own preferences.

To be fair, just about anything looks good him, but he knows what cuts, colors and silhouettes work best for him, which is why he’s so consistent.

So if you were to ask us to predict what Michael B. Jordan will wear on Oscar night…
At the Actor Awards in Tom Ford

It’s safe to say that it will be impeccable, masculine, and flawless. Probably Prada or Tom Ford, with a double-breasted jacket likely. Whatever the choice, he’ll look amazing.
