Duchess Megs had herself a gala red carpet moment as she joined Kelly Zajfen, the co-founder of Alliance of Moms at the at the Alliance for Children’s Rights Champions for Children Event in LA. To absolutely no one’s surprise, she kept the look simple and neutral for the occasion.

It’s a decent dress, in the sense that it’s unobjectionable and looks good on her, but it would be difficult to find a plainer gown than this. We realize she doesn’t want to pile on a lot of jewelry for these charitable events, but some sort of oomph is needed here aside from those earrings, which are well chosen. She’s not super-fashiony gal, but the fact remains that any time she’s invited to a red carpet event, it’s because the organization who invited her wants some star power, which leads to coverage, which trickles down to donations. You’re there to be photographed and those photographs have more impact (and thus potentially do more good) if they are widely sought and disseminated. Showing up as plain and unassuming as she can make herself misses the point of these engagements.
