Oh yes we did! With awards season 2026 officially in the rear view mirror, it’s time for a good old-fashioned gown showdown; a cagematch of fabulosity, if you will. We came out of the gate early with our pronouncement of the best look of the night, so we weren’t even sure we were going to do a showdown until a challenger appeared at the last minute.

Lorenzo’s Pick: Rose Byrne at the Oscars in Dior

Lo’s defense: This is one of the most elegant gowns I’ve ever seen on an Oscars red carpet — and I’ve seen all of them for the last twenty years. It has this delicate quality that you don’t normally see at an event like this; a quiet chicness and sophistication. It’s perfectly styled — flawless makeup and the best necklace of the night — and she never looked so amazing.

Tom’s Pick: Wunmi Mosaku at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Georges Chakra Couture

Tom’s defense: If any gown can challenge Miss Rose Byrne’s, if would have to be this one, worn by Miss Wunmi Mosaku to the after-party. She’s been unveiling one drop-dead gorgeous gown after another during this campaign, providing an image of Black maternal gorgeousness that enriched our coverage of awards season every time we featured her, but she definitely saved the best for last. I love this for being not just glamorous, but also softly pretty, as if she were packing away the fierceness of her campaign and getting ready to nest prettily.

And there you have it! Two utter queens of fashion! Two opinionated queens offering their opinions! Now YOU have to make the final call:
