Happy Golden Eve, everyone! Remember to leave out a plate of cookies and bribes! Look, we’d be the last people to complain that the entertainment industry is finding more and more reasons to send its stars out on red carpets, but a Golden Globes Eve party strikes us as a little silly. Still, this one was set up in order to give Helen Mirren and Sarah Jessica Parker their golden flowers, so we can’t be all that mad at it. What we can do is judge the outfits. We’re pretty good at that part.

This is cute. They rarely ever step out with their kids, but this one’s trying to set up his own acting career so a little nepo moment is to be expected.

We like the idea more than the reality. The dress is lovely and somewhat sedate. The idea of wearing a cropped black jacket with a champagne gown is a good one, but the bodice doesn’t work with a jacket, let alone a jacket and a vest. What’s the point of wearing a vest if you can’t close it? She might have been better with a shrug that didn’t interfere with the bustline.
Helen Mirren in Stella McCartney

Well damn, queen. You look flawless. She seems to be getting away from those Dolce & Gabbana Sicilian widow looks that defined her style for too long. She’s in her big jewels era and it looks fabulous on her.
Viola Davis in Oscar de la Renta

LOVE that necklace. We like the idea of pairing it with a shimmery brown gown, but the neckline doesn’t really work with it and the bodice is kind of unflattering.
Amanda Seyfried in Rodarte

Ooof. No. Dresses shouldn’t have antimacassars. Look it up.
Colman Domingo in Dolce & Gabbana

Can’t argue with any part of that.
