The stars came out in support of JUSTICE! In other words, it’s the annual Albie Awards, handed out by the Clooney Foundation for Justice. And since the Clooneys are like the first couple of celebritydom, the event was as star-studded as usual.
Amal Clooney and George Clooney in Versace

We just wrote a post last week finally declaring that which the fashion press is loath to admit: Amal Clooney has tastes that run more toward tacky than sophisticated. We stand by that assessment, but she had to go and make liars out of us by stepping out in this look, which is gorgeous and impeccable. She looks great in brown and the gold touches are perfect. He got a new tux and a spiffy new pair of shoes and we appreciate that.
Emma Thompson

Gorgeous, low-key chic. Our only recommendation is for gold metallic flats.
Felicity Jones in Tamara Ralph Couture

The dress is really sharp but it calls for more aggressive styling.
Hannah Waddingham in Pamella Roland

It’s an absolute stunner of a gown but everything from the ankles down is too distracting for it. That hem length is awkward enough, but pairing it with naked sandals leaves it looking unfinished.
John Legend

No problems here.
Meg Ryan

The red looks amazing on her, but that faux fur collar looks terrible, not least because it blends in with her hair.
Meryl Streep in Dolce & Gabbana

Why Mary Louise, look at you. We’re not used to seeing her in something with this much color and personality to it. We could quibble with a few details, but it’s just so nice to see her in something expressive, that looks like some thought was put into it. Still, we’d have added a couple of inches to the bottom of the pants.
Michaela Jaé Rodriguez in Georges Chakra

Nope. That’s just trying to do way too much.
Russell Tovey

The suit is a stunner and he looks amazing in it, but the hems are too long and those shoes don’t go at all.
Shailene Woodley in Versace

Seems weirdly unresolved as a design. The bust looks like it’s unfinished. That champagne gold doesn’t do much for her.
