The stars of A House of Dynamite joined director Kathryn Bigelow on the red carpet for the Venice Film Festival premiere. Let’s assess their choices in a who-asked-you sort of way.
Jared Harris and Allegra Riggio
We’re not usually fans of couples dressing alike, but her sparkly take on his formalwear strikes us as different enough to make them look coordinated, but not matchy. They look great.
Anthony Ramos
No issues here except for the posing and the unbuttoned jacket.
Idris Elba
We don’t mind the shape or the color, but the construction looks flimsy, like it needs a lining or interfacing.
Tracy Letts
Sir, what the hell has happened to your pants.
Rebecca Ferguson in Toni Maticevski
LUV HUH. Very few stars are able to bring a true punk sensibility (tremendously watered down to be sure) to more or less standard red carpetry. She’s able to marry the formal and the fuck-you in ways most movie stars just can’t pull off without looking like posers or messes. There’s both an intellectual aspect to this, as well as a legitimate sense of tension because she’s working a whole bunch of safety violations at once.
Greta Lee in Dior
The top half is elegant and interesting and suits her really well. The bottom half is silly and ruins it. She looks gorgeous, though.
Gabriel Basso
Kinda messy, but acceptable.
