Brian Tyree Henry doesn’t get quite as much recognition for his style efforts as someone like Colman Domingo, even though they’ve both been working a luxe version of Black dandyism for years. But Brian has a tendency to be a little more experimental with his style, which is why we’re not surprised to find ourselves featuring his Met Gala look, by Nigerian house Orange Culture, so quickly.
It’s stunningly fabulous, embodying the theme of Black male style and tailoring while also being one of the few looks to pay over tribute to Andre Leon Talley. The coat is gorgeous and tends to pull all the focus, but the suit is impeccably tailored and the color looks amazing on him. But what makes this look for us is the finishing. The brooches, boots, gloves and leather tie are all spectacular choices that elevate the look and take it somewhere unexpected. We don’t love the shirt cuff situation, but attention must be paid to the grooming, which is perfection.
