This past weekend, Emilia Perez star Zoe Saldaña picked up a SAG Award and returned to her favorite activity: wearing really goofy-looking dresses in public. She’s always had an offbeat sense of style, but she’d done an admirable job of course-correcting her style toward a much more conventionally, elegantly chic, awards season-appropriate style for the last few months. We guess now that the voting is over (and she’s pretty much a lock), she’s opted to go back to goofy.

The thing is, we don’t mind goofy so much as we mind ugly. This is just an unattractive frock all around. That bodice looks terrible on her and that’s just about the least flattering or photogenic color combination she could have picked for herself.

Don’t be fooled by the diamonds and sleekness. This is better than the previous dress, but it’s still a little off. That ruffle is disproportionate and weirdly placed. It literally looks shoved into the dress. The asymettry is overdone a bit. We figure you can have the ruffle or the sleeve, but putting them both on one side makes her look like she’s going to tip over. The jewelry is interesting, but oddly focus-pulling. If the first thing we notice about your look is the bracelet and we find it hard to tear our eyes away from it, the look is failing. To be fair, it’s an interesting bracelet design.
