We have to give all the credit in the world to I’m Still Here star Fernanda Torres’s team, because the lady has been hitting every talk show and red carpet available to her, ramping up her history-making Oscar campaign considerably. This weekend, she was all about the BAFTA Award action, attending the main event, the Chanel luncheon and the nominees party – and she’s not even nominated for a BAFTA. Impressive.
IN CHANEL AT THE BAFTA’S NOMINEES’ PARTY

She’s been charming everyone she meets as she campaigns, but we’d like to suggest that she needs a wee bit of red carpet coaching. There’s simply no conditions under which standing on a red carpet with your arms crossed is going to look good, except maybe if you’re doing superhero poses at your superhero premiere. Anyway, this is dramatic, but it’s not among our favorite Chanels of late. It’s a little tight at the neck and the textured trim winds up looking pill-y. We don’t much like the shape of the top either.

But this, we love. We’ll nitpick it, though. First, it’s elegant and has a quiet sophistication that suits her. She doesn’t go for loud fashion or ostentatious styling, so the minimalism and low-key drama feel just right. But we hate cap sleeves and we tend to think a neckline that wide and deep would be well served with some sleeves to frame it. The jewelry is lovely, but this dress is clearly screaming for a pendant. She could’ve found something relatively demure in keeping with her preferences.
