We’re back with Queen Maxima of the Netherlands because we want to expand our royal coverage to some of the more stylish of the European queens and she keeps giving us something to talk about. Today, she was at the opening of the National Education Exhibition in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht and apparently, she was in a very green kind of mood.
This look is fun and full of personality, but it’s also just a weensy bit goofy and unbalanced. The greens are lovely, although the combination of shapes leaves her very boxy. We’d never have recommended boots for that reason alone. Granted, part of the reason we wanted to expand our royals coverage is because Princess Cathy would rather be caught with food in her teeth than wear a leather skirt on an engagement. We love the skirt, but tights and a decent pair of pumps would’ve been our suggestion. The beige just looks odd. The snake brooch is really charming. The beige accessories kind of fight with it for attention. Basic black would’ve been our suggestion for the bag and footwear.
