Let’s check out some of the stylish stars at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Black Cinema & Television! And then let’s judge their outfits!
Aldis Hodge
Hot priest. Can’t say he’s not working it, but it’s a little too preacher man for us.
Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor in Thom Browne
Newp. We’ve always been super-supportive of her wild preferences, but her choices have skewed increasingly weird and attention-seeking lately This is an ugly parade float of an outfit.
Ebony Obsidian
The bodice is wildly overdesign (and it’s giving bridal) while the skirt feels like it belongs on another dress. We don’t like the design at all but she actually looks pretty cute in it.
John David Washington
Love the shoes. The suit’s nice, but he never does anything interesting with nice clothes.
Regina King in Cong Tri
She looks spectacular. We don’t love that print, but she makes it sing. It was smart to keep the styling low-key.
Ryan Destiny in Zuhair Murad
She looks great in it, but the design gets way too fussy around the neck and shoulder. Either a cape or a halter, but you can’t have both at the same time.
Taye Diggs
We know he has a history of wearing that style of hat, but it really doesn’t go with the suit. The shoes are nice but the pants need hemming. We’d have liked a bolder color shirt.
