Danielle Deadwyler, Taron Egerton, Jason Bateman, and Sofia Carson came to the premiere of their new film Carry-On and clearly none of them had any idea how any of the others were going to dress.
They’re all over the map.
We would like to take this opportunity to pat ourselves on the backs. Uncharacteristic of us, we know. But a year ago, we might have railed against brown suits and brown gowns, but we’ve so many good ones in the last six months or so, that we are forced to recalibrate our settings. This looks fantastic on her. It’s rare for us to say that about a sheer gown, but the design is genuinely interesting and sexy. We just hate the trains.
It’s a little different and we almost like it for him, but that fatigue green tends to make any garment look like a work uniform and we just can’t help thinking that his name badge must have fallen off. Love the shoes, though. Not feeling the buzz cut.
Dude, come on. It’s like he worked as hard as he could to find the dullest possible suit look he could whip up. The effect is that this isn’t just boring, it looks cheap. And he doesn’t look like he should be standing anywhere near his more dressed up co-stars. How hard is it to find a patterned tie or shirt in a color other than navy blue? We’ll tell you: not even a little bit hard. Like we said, you’ve got to work to be this boring.
On the flip side, this strikes us as a bit grandiose for a mid Netflix action movie premiere. We probably wouldn’t like it much at the Met Gala or the Oscars, because the volume is ridiculous and all of that black is giving trash bag, but it would at least be more appropriate in those settings.
