We gave star Cailee Spaeny’s dress the spotlight treatment (and a chance for you to vote on its merits), but the other castmembers of Alien: Romulus also brought some sharpness and weirdness to the London premiere. Let’s assess the choices of these people who probably are all dead by the end of the movie!

This is really, really bad. It’s probably one of the worst dresses we’ve seen all year. We get that a film like this calls for a little edge in the promo style, but it’s still a good idea for up-and-coming actors to present themselves in the best, most flattering light for their publicity work. Going by… well, everything, we think it’s safe to say she’s not a frilly fashion girl, but there are better ways to show off that edge.

We’re amazed that we don’t hate his suit, since the phrase “shiny suit” is pretty much synonymous with “terrible” in our minds. Maybe it’s the color or maybe it’s the monochrome quality or maybe we’re just impressed by the lack of wrinkles, but for whatever reason, it seems to work for him. As for her, we almost wish we’d put this dress up to a vote, because we love it and we suspect a lot of folks will hate it. It looks a little heavy for this time of year and we’d rather the back of it wasn’t riding up her neck like that (if you’re gonna do a hood, don’t half-ass it), but we love the shape and the drama of it.

Fede Alvarez (“Evil Dead,” “Don’t Breathe”) directs from a screenplay he wrote with frequent collaborator Rodo Sayagues (“Don’t Breathe 2”) based on characters created by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett. “Alien: Romulus” is produced by Ridley Scott (“Napoleon”), who directed the original “Alien” and produced and directed the series’ entries “Prometheus” and “Alien: Covenant,” Michael Pruss (“Boston Strangler”), and Walter Hill (“Alien”), with Fede Alvarez, Elizabeth Cantillon (“Charlie’s Angels”), Brent O’Connor (“Bullet Train”), and Tom Moran (“Unstoppable”) serving as executive producers.
