It was “Bring Your Daughter to the Red Carpet” day for director M. Night Shyamalan at the London premiere of Trap, but Saleka is more than just the director’s daughter, this nepo baby is starring in the film as a Taylor-esque pop star.

We tend to think it’s bad when a director is dressed better than his lead actor at a film premiere, but Shyamalan has always been a bit of a spotlight-seeker and Hartnett clearly isn’t. Even so, you look pretty bad here, Josh. If you’re going to go to the trouble of wearing a suit, why pick such a drab, unphotogenic one? No one’s expecting you to show up in pink velvet, but there’s no reason you couldn’t switch out this dreary gray for a summer blue and instantly be improved. We can tell that everything’s of high quality, but the presentation is so dull. What’s with that hair, mister? Saleka’s dress is pretty and dramatic and photographs well, but it feels a bit mature and “prestige actress.” We wouldn’t suggest that she needs to dress like a pop star just because she’s playing one, but she doesn’t need to dress like she’s launching her Oscar campaign either. Have a little more fun with it, girl.
