It seems like we’re entering a serious hide-the-hot period for male stars. Peacockery and dandifying are off the menu for now. All the hottest young male stars now dress like defrocked priests. Case in point:
He’s having a really good year in a wide range of projects. We might understand if he wanted to project a sort of blankness in order to sell himself as an actor capable of anything, but this is just so unflattering and dull. It does nothing for him, but we kind of suspect that was a deliberate choice. Your boy is looking to move to the next level: prestige actor. We’d rather he chose to get more stylish instead of less so for his career goals, but we guess that’s what the someday-hoped-for Oscar campaign is for.
