The dress is fine, the necklace is insanely fabulous and the shoes are fun.
Ayo Edebiri in Bottega Veneta
We’ve always complained that she tends to be too understated in her styling, so we can’t help thinking she’s fucking with us at this point. She actually looks great — even in peach — but that coat is weird.
Bryce Dallas Howard in Ilkyaz Ozel
The side cutouts don’t ruin it, but they sure don’t add anything to the design. The shoes look incredibly weird with it.
Carey Mulligan in Vintage Dior
Coming at you straight from the 1962 Debutante Ball. It’s actually a lovely look, but the styling is the epitome of dated.
Claire Foy in Armani Privé
It’s a pretty great dress, fringe bust aside, but she insists on dressing like a ghost. Girl, you need color.
Daisy Edgar-Jones in Gucci
We almost like this, but ultimately, we think the design looks too much like she’s lifting her gown to show you her underwear. A more coat-like style would mitigate that.
Dua Lipa in Valentino
The cape looks annoying but she looks stunning.
Emerald Fennell in Armani Privé
Lots of leather and sequin flowers of late. It doesn’t always work, such as in this case. That neckline is a little overdesigned.
Emma Corrin in Miu Miu
It’s a fun and kind of witty take on the sheer skirt. Pairing one with colorful opaque tights is kind of brilliant and the bows are hilarious. Everything from the waist up feels kind of random.
Fantasia Barrino in Benchellal
She has a real knack for working a lot of dress. This looks great on her, but the gloves were absolutely not needed.
Greta Gerwig in Erdem
Hate the shape and the necklace doesn’t go.
Hannah Waddingham in Oscar de la Renta
It looks fantastic at the top, but it kind of loses us as we head down.
Lashana Lynch in Prada
We credit it for being unusual, but we don’t like that collar or the overall shape.
Lily Collins in Tamara Ralph Couture
This is kind of drag fabulous, but we’re starting to fear the coming avalanche of fake flowers on the Oscars red carpet, if this trend holds up.
Naomi Campbell in Chanel Couture
That’s mother. If they go through with that Bewitched reboot, here’s your Endora.
Phoebe Dynevor in Louis Vuitton
We don’t mind the style, but the marriage of the skirt and the bodice is awkward.
Sheila Atim in Gucci
Pure stunning. The bandeau under the apron bodice makes all the difference.
Taylor Russell in Loewe
What an incredibly awkward and unflattering design.
