We’ve given as many of the awards-track folks a spotlight post as we could fit on a Friday (all of which you can check out by clicking here), but the hour is getting late and it’s time to wrap up our coverage of this first salvo in the 2024 awards season campaign schedule. Everybody line up for judgment!
America Ferrera in Lela Rose

This is simple, but really gorgeous on her. Love the sheer tights, which you don’t see often with slit gowns. The jewelry at the waist is pretty. Are brooches on the way back?
Colman Domingo in Zegna

Great color and style for him, but the pants are a bit of a mess.
Greta Gerwig in 16Arlington

This has a little bit of a “riot grrrl goes to Hollywood” feel to it, which seems kind of perfect for her. Can’t say we love the shape of the skirt, but the style really suits her.
Jeffrey Wright

On point.
Kirsten Dunst (in Valentino) and Jesse Plemons

Her dress is a little on the plain side, but they’re cute together.
Lenny Kravitz

It’s fine. We’re bored by his style. The white boots look goofy.
Leonardo DiCaprio

Acceptable.
Mark Ruffalo

We love that he chose a velvet tux, but he should’ve insisted on a better fit and worn fresh-from-the-box shoes.
Meryl Streep in Balenciaga

She looks fantastic, although her shoe and bag choices feel a little random. Should’ve gone for gold metallic for both.
Robert Downey Jr. (in Stella McCartney) and Cillian Murphy

Robert Downey Jr. may just be the first actor to enact an awards campaign in sneakers with lifts. Those things are practically wedges and we have no idea why he does this. The tux is nice, but typically a mess. Cillian looks fine – and vaguely embarrassed.
Sandra Oh in Carolina Herrera

Feels a bit like a holiday gown rather.
Taraji P. Henson in Alexandre Vauthier

Fantastic color. Love the gold sandals and pink pedi with it. Kinda wish the neckline was a little narrower. Needs a pendant.
