We interrupt all of this awards season cheek-sucking and gownery content for a less formal, far less serious sort of red carpet, the premiere of the Mean Girls musical. It’s Wednesday, so expect at least a little bit of pink.
Angourie Rice in Cucculelli Shaheen
At first we were going to say that the color isn’t right for her, but that’s not it. It’s an interesting textile that should work for her, but it’s rendered in a really flimsy-looking design that just doesn’t do much. A slightly better fit would help a lot, but it’s just not a very strong dress, if you know what we mean.
Auli’i Cravalho in Ferragamo
See, now that’s a look. We like that she went so hard and we LOVE the head styling, but we do think the dress and the styling have different feels to them.
Busy Philipps in Alexia Maria
Cute and sharp. No notes.
Jane Krakowski in Alice + Olivia
The hem sits a little too high on her, but she has a knack for pulling off dresses that could come off pretty juvenile on other wearers. The low-key styling is just right for it.
Jon Hamm
He needs a little more length in the jacket, but he looks good.
Lindsay Lohan in Alexandre Vauthier Couture
We’ll never love a belt over bare skin. It just looks uncomfortable to us. Aside from that, it’s not a bad look for her. We don’t think those were the best choice of shoe, however.
Megan Thee Stallion in House of JMC
Y’know? We can’t say we love the nude illusion sheer and we think the bust is clearly too tight on her, plus the whole thing is several miles deep into Tacky Town, but we’re gonna give her this one. It’s fun and she’s honestly working the hell out of it.
Reneé Rapp in Christian Siriano
This design looks very confused about what it’s supposed to be.
Tina Fey in Versace
This is really cute. If ever there was a time when she should dress up like the wacky aunt, this would be it.
ABOUT THE MOVIE:
From the comedic mind of Tina Fey comes a new twist on the modern classic, MEAN GIRLS. New student Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called “The Plastics,” ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George (Reneé Rapp) and her minions Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika). However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney), she finds herself prey in Regina’s crosshairs. As Cady sets to take down the group’s apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis (Auli’i Cravalho) and Damian (Jaquel Spivey), she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.
