Queen Max stepped out to visit the De Bol community center in Amsterdam and to work her own strained take on tone-on-tone dressing. It’s her favorite style and yet she gets it wrong more often than right, we’re afraid.

Color-wise, the top and the skirt don’t clash, but that doesn’t mean they coordinate well. The detail at the neckline of the top is interesting, but we don’t love the sleeve length or the loose cuffs. The skirt just comes off cheap — not to mention rude, what with it sticking its tongue out at us like that. Whoever thought it was a good idea to do that to the belt should be arrested. It’s so shiny and wrinkled in all the shots that it makes us wonder if anyone really thinks her outfits through before sending her out in them. To be fair, this isn’t a disaster, but it’s awkwardly unflattering. The earrings are gorgeous but they clash.
