We realize that such things aren’t likely to wedge themselves into the public’s collective memory, but for us, the one thing we’re going to remember about the 2023 SAG AFTRA strike will be the image of the cast of Oppenheimer walking off the London premiere red carpet together the minute the strike was called in July. It was something of an “Oh shit, this is really happening” moment for those of us who make our living talking and writing about these things. Anyway, we can’t help but look fondly on the cast reunited on the red carpet and looking pretty great together.

Well. Mostly great. Robert Downey, Jr. looks like the Wicked Witch of the West after Dorothy threw a bucket of water on her. We want to state that we see no problem with a man wearing lifts if he wants to. After all, it’s de rigueur for women to elevate their height through footwear, so we won’t go shaming any man for doing it. The problem with RDJ’s lifts are that they’re so high they distort the pants he’s wearing. Just go ahead and wear a heeled boot and get your pants tailored accordingly. LOVE Cillian Murphy’s whole deal. The red pocket square is an inspired touch.

This is the most conventional thing she’s worn all year. It’s very pretty and she looks great. We don’t want to overpraise it because we really do like her body-positive punk princess style mode more. But if a gal’s got to get a little traditional during awards season, we can’t see anything wrong with that.

This almost feels like a course correction from her wildly overdesigned Golden Globes dress. It’s definitely an improvement – she looks great in black – but that thing on her chest is pretty ugly.
