Allison Williams in Giambattista Valli Couture
The nude lip strikes us an odd choice paired with this dress, but the dress itself looks fantastic on her. That puffy half-peplum sits a little high, though.
Andra Day in Georges Chakra Couture
Pure stunning. While we’d have liked it more if the body suit underneath wasn’t quite so obvious, the whole look really sings because of the styling. Her hair and makeup look amazing.
Amanda Seyfried in Armani Privé
Meh. Seems like we’ve seen this exact dress about 10,000 times before, but the real issue is with the matching purple eyeshadow, which makes her look like she got punched in the face about an hour ago.
Angela Bassett in Dolce & Gabbana
Simple, classic and stunning.
Annette Bening in Dolce & Gabbana
No muss, no fuss. We might have rec’d different shoes and a less silly bag, but she looks great.
Bella Ramsey in Prada
This is really sharp and it falls under the rather vague category of “Nonbinary Style,” but we think it doesn’t come off formal enough for the event. It would work better if the pants and jacket matched like a suit.
Brie Larson in Prada
A very pretty throwback look. The color looks great on her. Not so sure about the footwear choice. A little sparkle down below would’ve been nice.
Cailee Spaeny in Miu Miu
We realize the design might have been a little too retro-prim without it, but that sheer midriff ruins the design.
Carey Mulligan in Schiaparelli
It’s the most interesting thing she’s worn in ages. We really like it, but her preference for very plain styling doesn’t work all that well with it.
Christina Ricci in Fendi Couture
Well. That certainly is a naked dress. Can’t say she doesn’t look slamming in it, but the underwear is practically glowing. We’d have liked this more in a darker sheer.
Dua Lipa in Schiaparelli
We love that she came as a musical instrument, but we don’t love that chintzy-looking gold trim or the mismatched blacks.
Elizabeth Banks in Dolce & Gabbana
Perfection.
Fantasia Barrino in Dolce & Gabbana
We’re sorry to report that we hate this. Too many elements and textiles cutting her body up. It literally looks like her skirt is falling off.
Hannah Waddingham in Suzanne Neville
Mother is mothering.
Hari Nef in Alexandre Vauthier Couture
We want to like this, but ultimately our dislike of tiered dresses won out.
Helen Mirren in Dolce & Gabbana
Glorious. She looks like the Queen of Springtime.
Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior
We didn’t realize until just now that this was in a midnight blue. It looks gorgeous on her.
Jodie Foster in Alberta Ferretti
It’s got a little bit of a Puritan vibe to it, which we don’t think suits her all that well. She’s always had a sharp red carpet style, but this comes off dowdy and aging.
Kristen Wiig in Giambattista Valli
She looks fantastic, but that crop top situation is kind of awful.
Meryl Streep in Valentino
Quite simply the best look she’s worn on a red carpet in probably about a decade. More of this please, Mary Louise.
Oprah Winfrey in Louis Vuitton
Oprah wants you to remember that she is the executive producer of THE COLOR PURPLE. It’s a pretty spectacular gown, but the DTM bridesmaid shoes are a terrible choice.
Reese Witherspoon in Monique Lhuillier
Pretty but basic, like most of L’huillier’s designs.
Sarah Silverman in Toni Maticevski
The longer we look at it, the more we dislike it. It comes off like the most basic of black dresses with a couple of flounces tacked on to make it more interesting. The black pumps are a terrible choice, bringing the whole look down even further.
Sarah Snook in Atelier Prabal Gurung
Worst dress of the night. We simply do not understand how someone can put this on and think it’s doing good things for them.
Sheryl Lee Ralph in Safiyaa
Fantastic. This color combo can easily go wrong, but the yellow is utilized really well.
