Allison Williams has been making the promotional rounds this week, not for the upcoming gay historical romance Fellow Travelers, in which she co-stars with Jonathan Bailey and Matt Bomer (and which we will also be recapping). The SAG-AFTRA strike prevents her from promoting that, but as we’ve observed a few times over the last couple of months, the celebs who have side gigs are doing okay in terms of landing publicity for them. Williams is out in her best outfits ostensibly to promote the historical drama podcast Erased: The Murder of Elma Sands, in which she serves as executive producer and one of the stars. Anyway, enough with the backstory and explanations. Let’s get shallow.
AT THE TODAY STUDIOS IN STELLA MCCARTNEY
It’s tough to find a reason to argue with any of that. While we find the style to be a little too restrained, the color story is sublime. We’re not usually sticklers for things like matching your manicure to your pumps, but it works really well here, mainly because that oxblood plays so well with that dusty pink.
AT THE LIVE WITH KELLY AND MARK STUDIOS IN BRUNELLO CUCINELLI
She’s the princess of preppy style, but this feels like a series of cliches to us. As a look, it’s got a lot of personality. While we don’t love the prep school undertones of the look, the leather jacket gives it a bit of an edge. Again, we’re not normally sticklers about this sort of thing, but we think the brown of the pumps clashes a bit with the brown of the jacket. It’s all something of an admirable attempt to do a twist on the classic schoolgirl look, but it doesn’t quite come together.
