Jonica T. Gibbs is getting buzz out of Venice for her role in Dogman AND she hit the Venice Film Festival promo tour in Chanel. An up-and-comer riding good press heading into awards season and busting out the French couture for the occasion? Darlings, it is as catnip to us. Ms. Gibbs, welcome to the T Lo Circle of Judgment. We hope to see you return many times.

Honestly? No notes. Sure, it seems a little heavy for Venice in August, but she’s the first person since K Stew who manages to make Chanel look cooler just by wearing it. We really like how well she works a stripped-bare, clean sort of styling, which is the exact opposite of Stewart, now that we think about it.

This also comes off way too heavy for the time and place. We tend to dislike such wildly irregular skirt hems, but she’s really well-suited to this look, so we can’t get too nitpicky about it. Yes, we wish the bottom half worked a little better, but she seems to have a knack for working borderline severe style elements. On the other hand, those flaps would get real annoying, real quick.
