Are we going to scrape every last bit of content out of the dead-and-gone Barbie promotional tour? You bet your pink-clad ass we will. Margot Robbie and her stylist Andrew Mukamal created the biggest style story of the year and probably had a semi-permanent effect on how stars will promote their own projects (to our chagrin, cosplay is fully on the menu now), which means we’re not about to let this one go just yet. Before the SAG-AFTRA strike was called, she and her Ken sat down with YouTube channel Buzz Interviews to chat about the disturbing rise of artificial intelligence and the thorny ethical questions it raises. Just kidding. They talked about Barbie and getting drunk in Dublin.
It’s a really cute interview. One of our observations about Margot Robbie, having watched her do a lot of these over the years, is that she’s very good at creating a public-facing persona for herself, but you can tell she’s a little quieter and more thoughtful than her bubbly outward appearance suggests. We don’t think she lets the public see it, but we get the impression she’s more serious than she comes across a lot of the times. Sort of like a female Tom Cruise: intensely focused and ambitious, but with a movie star gloss to it. In other news, this is a really cute dress. We think her final few outfits on the tour suggested that she was moving away from cosplay and taking a more fashiony approach. We were hoping to see more of that. But we’re burying the lede here because the real question we should be asking is OHMIGOD WHERE CAN WE GET RYAN’S SHIRT?!?
