MET Gala 2023: Jeremy Strong in Prada

Call us crazy if you must, but we kinda loved Succession star Jeremy Strong’s whole deal at the Met Gala.

Yes, really. He’s got such an intense vibe as an actor, not to mention a perhaps unearned reputation for being self-serious. He’s always made odd style choices for the red carpet, but we’re starting to vibe with his approach a little. It comes off like a form of artistic and personal expression on his part, which strikes us as evidence of his idea of himself as an artist, but it also comes off pretty goofy and even borderline clowny at times, which makes it feel like a bit of a release valve for him. He loosens up but keeps it notably unusual in a way that appeals to him. We get it. We like the color story here and proportions here, including that massive shirt ruffle. The pendant is jarringly clashy, but the more we look at it, the more we think it completes the whole weird ensemble. We like that the shoes are impeccable and the pants well fitted. We just wish the coat wasn’t so shiny.
