Producer Oprah Winfrey unveiled the trailer for the musical adaptation of The Color Purple at CinemaCon and introduced the film’s Shug, Celie and Sophia, Taraji P. Henson, Fantasia, and Danielle Brooks.

We don’t think they all necessarily coordinated, but we give them all credited for dressing distinct to themselves while looking good standing next to each other. Quibbles? Why, yes. Oprah’s fine. Let’s talk about the stars of the film.

Taraji’s suit is definitely interesting and the ombre effect of the textile is subtle and well done, but it’s hellaciously over-sized and slightly overdesigned, not to mention TOO SHINY. Fantasia looks great. We can understand why she’d want to go full diva for this press tour, but she does come off a weensy bit overdressed. Danielle looks really cute and the style is unexpected, but it comes a little close to cheerleader/schoolgirl.
