There are certain unspoken rules (that we nonetheless constantly articulate around these parts) about the roles and the tasks expected of celebrities in various scenarios. You don’t outshine the film’s star at her premiere. You don’t show up at the VMAs in something that Anna Wintour would approve of. You don’t roll your eyes at Oprah. You don’t mention how much you got paid. You don’t discuss the disordered eating or chemical help you got in order to fit into the superhero costume, etc., etc. You get the point. Simu Liu has violated one of the lesser known of these expectations.
