Even though it has absolutely the worst name of any entertainment awards show (there’s an indignant sniff practically written into it) The Movies For Grownups Awards is a pretty reliable stop on the awards track line every year for a handful of nominees. If we can make a slightly shady observation, it’s not really the place where you’re likely to encounter a whole bunch of frontrunners, but we respect the following nominees for Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress for getting their asses out there and their faces in front of cameras. That’s how campaigning is done, most of the time, anyway.

It’s fine. He’s been working this exact look for a year now, so we can’t really get huffy because he’s still doing it in the home stretch. He has an affinity for this sort of louche chicness, but we look forward to him getting away from the Elvis of it all when this campaign is over.

This is also fine, in the sense that it’s appropriate (this is among the least showy of the awards), profesh, and mostly well suited to him. We think someone needs to take him by the hand and show him how many more style options are available to him than this. If you’re campaigning for an Oscar while dressed indistinguishably from your accountant, you’re missing one of the best tools you have available to you.

Brian gets it. We tend to always have a problem with one or two of the details on his ensembles, but we always appreciate how much he steps up. We love the velvet tie but we don’t love the color of the shirt.

We can’t say we’ve changed our mind on fringe or on satin pants, but this is somehow working for her. It feels like it gives just enough of an impact while not overdoing the fuss. The hair and makeup are great. Would love to see the shoes, but the pants are eating them.

That’s how a pro does it. Best dressed of the lot, by far. And in typical Jamie Lee fashion, it looks effortless.
