We are LOVING how hard Viola Davis is going on the fashion front this time, while she promotes The Woman King ahead of awards season. This is the kind of message-sending fashion that forces people to consider that this is a buzz-worthy film with award potential. It’s also, not for nothing, a thoughtful way to include African designs in her style.
Having said that, we don’t think the necklace, from African crafts retailer Naruki, described as being designed by Maasai women, necessarily coordinates all that well with the extremely “Michelle Obama circa 2011” ensemble. We wonder if this wouldn’t have looked more interesting paired with her velvet jumpsuit of the other night or if perhaps it needs a more substantial, gown-length dress underneath it, even a simple black velvet sheath. In short, love the jewelry, but we don’t think it goes with the dress.
