Meghan kept things neutral and chic this morning, but Kate opted to go a sunnier route. We wonder how much these things were coordinated, since Kate could have easily chosen a neutral or a white, which she’s been favoring lately. Not today, though. Sometimes we think Kate has a certain unsung quality that contributes to her style and tends to keep her on a fairly low difficulty setting when it comes to high fashion but almost never gets mentioned, not even by us. It also happens to be a quality she shares with the Queen.
She looks good and photographs well in pretty much any color. That’s a rare quality and she honestly doesn’t exploit it as much as she could or should. A good portion of the time, she’ll default to blues or neutrals before opting to go with a rich or bright hue. It’s why a look like this tends to stand out a little. The coat dress has a lovely shape to it, but we think the hat is mumsy – fabric flowers can go so wrong, with the likelihood of that happening increasing the bigger the flowers get. We also think those beige suede pumps look terrible with it.
