Style File: “tick, tick…BOOM!” Star Vanessa Hudgens in Carolina Herrera and Moschino

Posted on November 19, 2021

Much in the manner of her Tonight Show ensemble of the other night, Vanessa Hudgens has been hitting the sidewalks in some high look-at-me looks, which is, as always, to be commended ’round these parts. That’s the name of the game, after all. Still, while we appreciate any celebrity who takes the time to be a little extra in support of their career or latest project (in this case, her co-starring role in tick, tick…BOOM!, which is out on Netflix now), we keep having quibs with her detailing.

Leaving Her Hotel in Carolina Herrera

This is actually pretty great, the nuclear orange film coating her skin aside. Love the top and skirt. They’re photogenic, on trend, and look great on her. We don’t exactly dislike the coat and the pumps, but we do think they’re conventional to the point of being generic. She does so well with bold and bright colors and being in New York at this time of year to do promo work offers so much fun on the outerwear and footwear fronts. Why pick a coat and shoes fit for a lawyer?

In Moschino at “The View”

This just made us laugh out loud – and not in a good way. Look, if you want to wear a cute mini, you go for it, girl. But you can’t just ditch the pants that go with that jacket and call it a dress. And if you are going to make that bold choice we ask once again: why would you finish it off with such generic accessories and outerwear. It’s like she keeps shooting for a certain level of high-fashion extra-ness and then getting timid on the finishing details.
