Whether they’re really trolling us or not with some of these street scenes, it seems that Sarah Jessica Parker and the team behind the Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That are definitely offering every chance they can to generate buzz. In today’s entry (and we swear we’re not turning into a AJLK fanblog, but some of this stuff is like dangling candy in front of a baby), Carrie gets her cultural appropriation on and canoodles with a man who is not her man.
It’s a gorgeous look and we try not to be the arbiters of what constitutes the right and the wrong way to wear garments and designs specific to a culture, but we’ve been to a couple Falguni Shane Peacock runway shows and we doubt very much that the brand is opposed to its usage here. That hair is certainly worthy of some side-eye. Personally, this doesn’t feel remotely like a Carrie look in any way, so we’re just going to have to see the justification for it.
Once again, the production seems to ping-pong back and forth from totally un-Carrie looks to something that couldn’t be more of a classic Carrie look. At this point, who the hell knows what the story’s going to be, but it seems pretty clear that Carrie’s still clothes-crazy and boy-crazy.
