Allison Janney in Valentino for “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”

Allison Janney ditched her wigs and went natural this year and she looks amazing with her short silver ‘do. Along with that choice there seemed to come a concerted effort to ease into a more mature style. Not that long ago, she was known for wearing the slinkiest, sleekest gowns the red carpet ever saw, but this year (possibly in response to there being no red carpets), her style turned suddenly toward respectable pantsuits and slouchy sweaters. That’s not something you tend to see actresses do with such openness and suddenness. We haven’t always loved the various pantsuits and sweaters she sported during her promotional work lately, but we respected the choice and the way it was so casually, yet forcefully executed. She works in an industry where aging is considered a career disaster, remember.

But with things opening up ever so slightly and an end in sight for all this at-home nonsense, it seems the predicted demise of her sexy looks was a bit premature on our parts:

To be fair, we don’t love the fringe sleeves and we think the shoes might be a skosh on the too-busy side, but we’re happy to see she hasn’t talked herself out of wearing more attention-seeking high fashion, respectability be damned.

She really does look great.
